Giving back: Wholesale Benefits division is hiking for a cause in August

Wellness is at the heart of the work we do every day at Advanced Professionals Insurance & Benefit Solutions, the wholesale benefits division of Newfront. But our team takes that work one step further each August by sponsoring and participating in the Hike-a-Thon fundraiser to support the Washington Trails Association.

With Hike-a-Thon celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Advanced Professionals (AP) team took its own celebration to the trails with a hike on Aug. 16, 2023, at Discovery Park in Seattle.

“Getting our team together for this annual hike is something I look forward to every year,” said Keith VanderZanden, Executive Vice President and Practice Leader of the AP wholesale benefits division. “Our team benefits from the collaborative time spent away from the office, while embracing Newfront’s Work, Love, Play ethos and supporting a great cause.”

How You Can Help Support Trails

Throughout August, Hike-a-Thon participants hike, share stories of their outdoor adventures and raise funds that directly support trails in Washington state.

This year, AP is sponsoring Hike-a-Thon in conjunction with client ALLtech Health Trust, which offers health insurance and other employee benefits to Washington-based businesses in the information technology industry. Also sponsoring is ALLtech partner Delta Dental of Washington, which underwrites dental insurance for ALLtech.

Together we are joining forces as the ALLtech Hike-a-Thon team, which has proudly won the title of raising the most money for a company team for the past three years.

Learn more about the Washington Trails Association

Through our support of the Washington Trails Association (WTA), AP is not only encouraging wellness and outdoor activity, but also supporting Newfront’s dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion.

WTA is a leader in advocacy to support trails and wildlands, with a focus on breaking down barriers to getting outside and improving access for all. WTA also is responsible for creating the state’s largest volunteer trail maintenance program

On top of it all, we love and use WTA’s robust website, wta.org, the go-to source for hikers looking for their next Washington adventure. From its Hike Finder Map and user Trip Reports to Trail Smarts and more, hikers at any level have everything they need to find the perfect hike while staying safe.

No matter where you are, the AP team encourages you to get outside and get hiking, and hopefully we’ll see you on the trails!
