The Blackout Syndrome

Clues in the Allinger Apartment

In the living room, you find a houseplant that's recently had some leaves pulled off and chewed. It's sitting on a coffee table that's low to the ground.

In the kitchen, you find evidence that little Isabella Allinger had peas, applesauce, mushroom pizza, and a cup of milk for dinner. The "Donnybrook Farms" milk bottle is still sitting out on the counter. Isabella's parents had salad, pizza and beer for dinner. You find more beer, fresh greens, baby food and condiments in the refrigerator.

Poking through the garbage turns up a "Rollo's Pizza" box and a plant tag that reads "Lady's Slipper (paphiopedilum)." The Allinger's pet, a sharp-clawed iguana named Iggy, is hiding in the bathtub. Iguanas eat leafy greens and vegetables.

Rita tells you that an exterminator from the Hitchcock Chemical Company came earlier today, to spray the apartment complex for roaches. She also claims that the houseplant was not in the apartment a week ago, and that Isabella is just beginning to stand up on her own. You see evidence that there's been a power failure.
