You and John Night Sky are in deep trouble. Chief Weber has already spent an hour screaming at you and there's more to come. Perhaps an investigation. Perhaps a lawsuit from the victim's relatives.

"I blew it," you moan over your beer. The Bobcat Bar is nearly empty. "Bringing that cell phone was the stupidest idea. Where could he have been hiding?"

"It's a large bluff," Night Sky says stoically. "He probably did what I did, parked far off and hiked his way in. Here's a better question. How did he know your name? How did he know your cell number?"

"It's on my business cards."

"Ah." Night Sky sips his beer. "Then it must be someone with one of your cards, someone who knew you were handling the case. Who did you give cards to?"
